Google wants to launch more smartphones in the autumn with the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G. In the wake of today’s announcement of the Pixel 4a (test), the company confirmed the two 5G-compatible smartphones and published a first picture of the new models. The Pixel 4a 5G will be larger and cost around 500 euros.

The strategy for announcing new smartphones before leakers can publish the images is continued by Google. Last year, Google had already published the first official images of the Pixel 4 months before the market launch in autumn.

Pixel 5 remains small, Pixel 4a 5G grows larger

A first image shows the pixel 5 (left) and the pixel 4a 5G side by side. According to the image, Pixel 5 will again offer a housing made of aluminum, while the Pixel 4a 5G is plastic. Judging by the image, the pixel 4a 5G will be a kind of XL version of the pixel 4a, since the pixel 5 is assumed to have similar dimensions as last year’s pixel 4 (test) or the new pixel 4a.

Pixel 4a 5G costs around 500 euros

Google wants to launch the new smartphones this autumn in Germany, the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, France, Japan, Taiwan and Australia, at least for the Pixel 4a 5G the price of 499 euros is already fixed, whereas in the context of the until the end of the year to 16 per cent reduced VAT only 486,40 euro are called up by Google. "The new mobile standard is designed to make streaming videos, downloads and video games with Stadia or other platforms faster and smoother than before," Google argues.

Snapdragon 765G suspected instead of 865

The technical equipment of both devices could be identical in the Soc and 5G range. Rumor has it that Google will use the Snapdragon 765G instead of installing Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 865 (Plus) with X55 modem. This in turn could mean lower prices than the pixel 4. Google wants to announce more information on both smartphones in the next few months.

Today US has received information on this article from Google at NDA. The only requirement was the earliest possible release date.
