Lenovo ThinkPad E14 and ThinkPad E15 Features and Price.

In the future, Lenovo will also offer the budget notebooks of the Thinkpad E14 and E15 series with the new Renoir Apus from AMD. In addition, series production of Ryzen Pro 4000 will soon follow. The two 14- and 15-inch entry-level models, which have been available with Comet Lake-U since January 2020 and are now also betting on Renoir, will make the start.

The E14 and E15 are the legitimate successors of the E495 and E595, which in turn rely on AMD Picasso (test) and are now very likely to expire. Lenovo has now presented the successor series, which can be equipped with a maximum of one AMD Ryzen 7 4700U and 16 GB DDR4-RAM, but which is always running in slower single-channel operation.

With both Comet Lake-U and Renoir, the two E series have only one slot for SO-DIMM memory modules, which precludes dual channel operation from the outset. The Lenovo Ideapad 5 does not have such restrictions and can also be configured with a Ryzen 7 4800U and up to 16 GB DDR4-3200 in a dual-channel configuration.

AMD and Intel edition on the same basis
Since both AMD and Intel models are built on the same housing, the 14 and 15 inch IPS displays with FHD resolution and maximum brightness of 250 cd/m² are likely to be the same, as was previously the case with the E490 and E495 predecessors respectively E590 and E595. Whether there is another option for a matt TN panel with 220 cd/m² has not yet been answered.

Lenovo announces ThinkPad E14 & E15 with AMD Ryzen 4000

The USB 2.0 and USB 3.2 Gen1 connectors feature standard A-type sockets and USB 3.2 Gen2 as a Type C display port and power delivery, HDMI and Gigabit Ethernet and a 3.5 mm jack.

Also on board are Wi-Fi 6 (formerly IEEE 802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.0 as well as an infrared camera for using Windows Hello. Depending on the configuration, the Thinkpad E14 and E15 is available in the form of 128 GB to 1 TB Pcie-Ssds for the M.2 slot operating according to the Nvme protocol and an HDD with also 1 TB slot.

However, Lenovo did not comment on the size of the battery, the Intel variants at least have a 3 cell 45 Wh power source.

In addition to the two entry-level models, Lenovo also announced the superior model series with the professional Apus of the Ryzen Pro 4000. The Thinkpad T14, T14s, X13 as well as L14 and L15 relied on the processor series with additional functions and support for companies.

The Thinkpad E14 and E15 will be available in the basic configuration for 639 US dollars from June.
