Scientists understand how bees manage to breed without sexual intercourse
Do Honey Bees Reproduce Asexually or Sexually Reproduction Cycle !
Honeybees breed through a plough involving a womb and a drone. However, these insects also have parthenogenesis, which is the variant in which the organism develops from an unproductive egg. Recently, scientists have come to understand how a subspecies of bees can reproduce without having sex.
The study was done by specialists from the University of Sydney. They were able to find one gene that makes reproduction possible without fertilization. It turns out that the GB45239 gene on chromosome 11 is responsible for the birth of a new bee in a virgin female.
Honey bees advantages/disadvantages involved in methods of reproduction.
This peculiarity is characteristic of a honey bee from South Africa apis mellifera capensis. The unproductive eggs produce only females, not males. As scientists have noted, the males in these bees are largely useless.
