Nvidia: Huge cooler of the GeForce RTX 3090 photographed
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 |
The new GeForce RTX 3000 graphics cards of the Ampere generation are approaching: Nvidia has announced a "GeForce Special Event" on 1 September, at which the models will probably be presented. Now new pictures of the GeForce RTX 3090 FE have made it to the Internet, and these indicate very large dimensions.
The following content is only speculation and not official information. Even if these appear realistic, the editorial staff cannot guarantee that it is not a false report.
Same design, but significantly larger than the RTX 3080
Back to the cooler: This is similar in design to the cooler, of which there were pictures a little more than two months ago. These supposedly came from the GeForce RTX 3080 FE, while the new ones are said to belong to the consumer flagship, the GeForce RTX 3090 FE. And despite the identical design, you can quickly see that the alleged cooler of the GeForce RTX 3090 FE is larger. Even if the differences on the photo probably seem bigger than they actually are, a direct comparison of the slot brackets indicates.
Suspected GeForce RTX 3090 FE cooler
The pictures not only show the presumed GeForce RTX 3090 FE, but also GeForce RTX 2080 FE, which illustrates the different dimensions at a glance. As a reference design, the new graphics card will be a 3-slot and not a 2-slot design for the first time. The counterpart on the GeForce RTX 3080 FE is 2 slots high.
The fan diameter also increases significantly
At the same time, the cooler of the GeForce RTX 3090 will become much wider and longer. The two installed fans will exceed the 100 mm mark, presumably they are 110 mm or 120 mm fans. Further details of the new graphics card can not be recognized by the images.
Great caution is still to be exercised with regard to prices
In one breath, the leaker also calls prizes. The GeForce RTX 3090 will cost 1,400 US dollars, the GeForce RTX 3080 800 US dollars, the GeForce RTX 3070 600 US dollars and the GeForce RTX 3060 400 US dollars. While the pictures are probably real - even if it is unclear whether this is the final design used - more caution is appropriate with the prices. Experience has shown that the final prices are set only a few days, sometimes only a few hours before the launch. Above all, the prices for the GeForce RTX 3070 and GeForce RTX 3060, which are supposed to appear later, therefore seem questionable. It is of course conceivable that these are only indicative prices from Nvidia, which can change over time.
The GPU showdown in the second half of the year
It is now clear that Nvidia’s gaming amps will appear before AMD’s Navi-2X generation. The performance will take place on 1 September, but with a first availability only with some time offset to expect. AMD is later on, rumored of a performance in October or November - with a tendency to November. AMD should plan with up to 16 GB of memory.
