Deepcool CL500: USB-C and disguised mesh
Deepcool CL500 USB-C |
Deepcool describes the CL500 midi tower as a reasonable chassis. In 2020, this is to be equated with USB Type-C as well as large air openings, which in the case of this housing are however disguised. Thus, the typical grid optics of other mesh housings disappear in favor of an individual appearance.
The CL500 is just like any other housing on the market. Power supply and an HDD cage for two 3.5" drives are located in the lower, separated area of the chassis, two 2.5" HDDs fit additionally behind the motherboard. The primary chamber of the tower, separated in this way, takes up graphics cards of virtually unlimited length and supports them with a holder. CPU coolers may be 165 millimeters high, a value that is only exceeded by manufacturers in absolute exceptional cases. Only power supplies with a length of 160 millimeters are somewhat more restricted, but this value is only relevant in the high-end range.

Fan distributes Deepcool in usual places in usual number. A total of three 120 mm fans fit to the rear and top, and a further three 120 mm or two 140 mm models can be mounted behind the front. The installation of radiators is also possible in appropriate sizes.A 120 mm fan is part of the standard equipment. It also includes a PWM fan controller for a maximum of four fans.
The CL500 goes beyond normal equipment in two points: Both side parts are only fastened with magnets and can thus be opened quickly. In addition, the housing has a USB Type-C port in the currently fastest standard USB 3.2 Gen 2 (formerly USB 3.1).
In the competitive segment
This Type-C port is a real USP, because the CL500 is already offered by the online retailer Alternate for around 78 euros. This segment includes the Phanteks Eclipse P400A and the Fractal Design Meshify C (Test), which are comparable in concept and have other equipment extras, but do not have this even rare connector.
