Wine 5-8 and Wine staging 5-8 released
Wine Staging 5.8 released GIF Encoder, More WineD3D Vulkan Progress - Linux Compatible.
There was an experimental release of open Winapi implementation - Wine 5.8. Since version 5.7 was released, 44 bug reports have been closed and 322 changes made.
The most important changes are:
- Plug & Play device connection notifications are implemented;
- Improved support for assembly using Clang in MSVC compatibility mode;
- The development of the Wined3d API-based backend continued;
- Added initial GIF encoder implementation;
- Support for the new version of the graphical API Vulkan specification (1.2.140);
- Closed bug reports related to games and applications: ABBYY Finereader 11, ABBYY Finereader 12 Professional, Zanah, Total War: Shogun 2, GTA IV, Mobad Jo Redux, Anno 1701, Karaoke DVD Burner v1.0, Warcraft 3, Process Hacker 2.39.124, Skdarsiders Astered Warmed Edition, Shogun: Total War, Rspec-Explorer, Streetfighter V Arcade Edition, Ragnarok Online kRO, Microsoft Expression Design 4, The Bat! Acronis Disk Director 12, Notepad++, Tokyo Xanadu eX+, Riot Vanguard, iLok License Manager, Blindwrite 7.0, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition.
The Wine development release 5.8 is now available.
At the same time, the release of the Wine Staging 5.8 project is presented, forming extended Wine assemblies, including incomplete or risky patches not yet ready for adoption in the main Wine branch. Compared to Wine, Wine Staging provides 833 additional patches. The new edition synchronizes with the Wine 5.8 code base. There are 12 patches of Wine, mostly related to adding a GIF encoder to windowscodecs and extending the functionality of the ddraw component. The ntdll-WRITECOPY, wined3d-Indexed_vertex_blending, ntdll-Ntsetldtentries and winebuild-Fake_dlls patches have been updated.
