00Gate is a zero emission datacenter based on the Lenovo Thinkagile CP platform, designed for maximum performance and maximum sustainability.

00Gate, the datacenter with zero emissions
A zero emission datacenter could have been a credit until a few months ago, but now it seems to be increasingly clear how the future ambitions of the time are destined to be transformed into concrete value in the short term. That’s why a project like 00Gate, the only emission-free data center operating in the South of Europe looking for a new balance between performance and environmental impact that in perspective will be crucial in many areas.

00 Gate, the datacenter with zero impact.

"00Gate is based on the Lenovo Thinkagile CP platform, with scalable Intel Xeon processors and storage capabilities secured by a Lenovo Thinksystem SR650 server equipped with a combination of Solid State Drive (SSD) fast low latency lntel Optane and high capacity Intel 3D NAND Ssds"

The project was born from a collaboration between Exe.it and Lenovo Data Center Group and was designed in every detail to achieve the ultimate goal of having a high quality product in which everything must contribute to the achievement of the goal prefigured: from the architecture of the building to the technologies used, for an extreme optimization that allows the achievement of what is primarily a symbolic goal.

"Thanks to the extensive use of solar panels, the compact construction of the building, and the air conditioning system free cooling, much of the energy needs of the data center is met autonomously, and the amount of energy that is purchased externally is produced exclusively from renewable sources according to the certification of the Green Cloud Consortium. The most important contribution to energy efficiency is given by the compact size and reduced consumption of Lenovo Thinkagile CP, designed to optimize the performance of workloads and to orient the operational efficiency towards greater quality and availability of services. In addition, the structure of the building makes extensive use of wood, organic material that ensures a better thermal balance, as well as being fireproof."

Why data centres are the new frontier in the fight against climate change.

The race to the downside (in terms of consumption) and upwards (in terms of sustainability) of datacenters is a parallel path to the growth of cloud computing and is an evolution that over time will give solid foundations to the market: More advanced solutions imply a further step forward and Lenovo’s commitment to this project only confirms the growing ambition of the market in this direction.
