DJI Mavic Air 2, the new drone incorporates photos in 8K resolution, video improvements and more autonomy.

It has been more than two years since DJI introduced the Magic Air and now comes its renovation through the second generation drone, the DJI Mavic Air 2. An improved version especially in photographic capabilities and also in its autonomy.

The DJI Mavic Air was positioned as a replacement for the Mavic Pro at a smaller and more compact size but with better performance. In other words, the DJI consumption drone. The new generation follows this trail by focusing on improving features like camera and photo modes available to users. Let’s look at some of its characteristics.

In the technical flight section, DJI’s Mavic Air 2 slightly improves its functions by now offering a maximum flight time of up to 34 minutes, of course, in perfect conditions. DJI indicates that they have introduced new engines and a more aerodynamic design.

Different characteristics of the drone allow easier flights by automatically avoiding obstacles or following a route drawn by another object. The Focustrack function, for example, allows you to select an object for the drone to follow it by air automatically, it also offers the option to create default routes that the drone can perform automatically.

The drone also introduces new safety features to avoid obstacles with front and rear sensors. They indicate that new auxiliary lights will allow the drone to land automatically and smoothly even at night. Finally, the use of geo permitting that prevents the use of the drone in areas not allowed as airports is noteworthy.

Hyperlapse at 8K resolution and other camera improvements

DJI’s Mavic for the first time introduce a 4K video mode at 60 frames per second. It is the maximum video quality that you accept although you can choose between different resolutions and formats:

While capturing the photographs the drone can fly in free mode, in orbit, with a fixed course or following a trajectory.

DJI also points to the inclusion of different intelligent capture modes to combine up to seven HDR shots with different exposures, enhanced photographs in low-light environments or scene recognition to level colors and light.
