The President of EETT took a stand on the issue of prices in telecommunications services
Key points of an interview with the President of EETT

The President of EETT, Professor Konstantinos Masselos, mentioned, among other things, issues related to competition in the market of electronic communications and the development of 5G networks.

In particular, he noted that telecommunications services are not just about prices. If the only goal was the lowest prices, we should not auction the range in terms of quality (data speed, voice quality, call reliability) and terms of coverage. Regarding the methodologies adopted in comparative price studies it is very important to see which consumer profile is evaluated.

The President of EETT, Professor Konstantinos Masselos, mentioned,

Prices for mobile telephony / broadband services do not depend solely on the number of providers. The qualitative data from which the differentiation emerges are important and these are very multifaceted. In addition to the spectrum auction planned by the regulatory authority for the rest of the year, competition must be defined by the free market.

Regarding the development of 5G networks, the President of EETT noted that the goal remains to complete the auction of the spectrum through a multiband auction at the end of 2020.

Finally, the President of EETT stressed that the planning of the auction of the spectrum is in progress and there are possibilities for the creation of a friendly framework in investments regarding the starting price and the method of repayment.
