For days, rumors have been mounting that Apple would like to use the WWDC 2020 developer conference to introduce a completely new iMac. Now a schematic diagram has emerged within the iOS 14 data circulating in the network, which fuels the release around an update of the all-in-one portfolio. It shows a possible iMac with an even, halfway narrow screen frame, which is strongly reminiscent of an iPad Pro with stand or the Pro Display XDR. In addition, the Russian leaker iFinder provides a first render of his ideas on the new iMac on Twitter.

Fast SSD and AMD Navi graphics cards planned

It was already speculated in advance that Apple could further develop the iMac in the direction of the iPad Pro design and create the frame around the retina display. Also in the discussion are an Apple T2 security chip, AMD graphics cards of the Navi generation and the change from the hybrid Fusion Drives to faster SSD. Most recently, the well-known iMac was updated in March 2019, with at least a CPU upgrade to Intel Core 10 processors. Generation would be overdue. Whether Apple will also undergo the design and equipment of the iMac Pro in the same breath, remains to be seen.

Apart from the iMac, Apple will use this year’s purely digital WWDC 2020 to celebrate the comeback of the 12-inch Macbook. However, the intention is not to use never-ending Intel chips for the first time, but to use an ARM-based processor as the main drive. Furthermore, the US manufacturer will usually present the new operating system updates for iPhones (iOS 14), iPads (iPadOS 14), Macs (macOS 10.16) and the Apple Watch (watchOS 7). The keynote will take place on Monday, 22 June, from 7 pm.
