This week, RED by SFR’s basic offer includes 60 GB for 12 euros per month. 

The 100 GB package will go from 20 to 16 euros per month. Whatever your choice, SFR will offer you 100 GB of storage on its cloud. A very engaging proposal that has the arguments to seduce big data consumers. Here’s what you need to know about this no-obligation mobile plan.

1. Wait for the right moment to subscribe to the RED by SFR plan?

The unlimited RED offer has an Internet envelope with variable geometry, oscillating between 30 and 60 GB (sometimes less). This is the main subtlety of this package, a bucket of data fluctuating with promotions. The amount of data included in the offer must therefore condition the choice of the future customer. Also, when the RED Unlimited plan includes less than 30 GB of data - which has become very rare - we recommend that you wait a few weeks for it to be enriched and enjoy a more comfortable envelope.

2. One RED by SFR package, but customizable?

Since last summer, there is only one package at RED and it can evolve according to your data needs and your voice/text consumption in France and abroad. RED previously offered a first formula with 40 GB at 10 euros and a second with 60 GB at 15 euros. The latter includes this week, 60 GB of data and sees its price rise to 12 euros. If this is not enough for you, you can switch to the 20 euro formula with 100 GB. Currently, it is displayed at 16 euros.

3. What is included in the RED by SFR package?

Each plan includes unlimited calls to all mobile and fixed phones in metropolitan France and overseas departments as well as unlimited SMS and MMS to all operators in metropolitan France. Please note that these formulas also include calls, SMS and unlimited MMS from the European Union and the overseas departments. For 12 euros, the package offers an additional 8 GB envelope for use in Europe and the overseas departments. If you turn to the 20 euro one with 100 GB of data, it will be an additional 10 GB to use in Europe and in the French overseas departments. You can take advantage of the SFR TV service for 2 extra euros per month. It gives you access to 35 channels (including DTT channels) and thousands of VOD programs from the SFR TV app.

4. RED by SFR abroad?

The RED Unlimited plan at 12 euros includes 8 GB of additional data to be used from the European Union and the overseas departments, beyond that, the data will be charged 0,007€/MB. From these destinations, subscribers to this package will also have unlimited calls/SMS/MMS (3 hours max per call and limited to 200 different recipients per month). Adjustable package requires and as indicated above, the offer is very flexible you can always increase this data envelope according to your needs, for the holidays these two formulas. It has 15 GB of internet from the European Union and French overseas departments, Switzerland, Andorra, the USA and Canada, as well as unlimited calls, SMS and MMS to and from these areas.

5. How to switch between the different packages?

If you are a new subscriber, simply select the offer that best suits your needs when subscribing. Subscribers can then easily and instantly switch to another formula via RED by SFR customer service or the RED & Moi application (to download for free from the Play Store or the App Store).

6. The RED by SFR package is (really) unlimited in duration?

SFR's RED Unlimited offer is marked as valid for life. Understand that the price as the Internet envelope will not change after a year as is sometimes the practice on promotions of operators without commitment.

7. How to take advantage of the non-binding package?

Remember that this is a non-binding offer, leaving more flexibility for subscribers to switch from one operator offer to another by following promotions. To subscribe to the offer while keeping your phone number, you will need to obtain your RIO by dialing 3179 on your smartphone. Once your RIO is recovered, the new operator will take care of the portability of your number.

8. What about unlimited by RED / SFR?

The concept of unlimited is now well established with our hexagonal operators and we naturally find it on offers without commitments, which no longer have much of low-cost. In the case of our RED at 12 €, the subscriber will thus benefit from unlimited calls / SMS / MMS to landlines and mobiles in mainland France and the French overseas departments (except Mayotte) and from the European Union and the French overseas departments.

9. The subtleties of use?

In the short lines, we can read that it should not exceed 3 hours max per call and that this unlimited is actually limited to 200 different recipients per month. Similarly, if you manage to exceed the considerable Internet envelope granted by the operator for metropolitan France, the speed will not be limited but you will have to opt for 1 GB recharges charged at 2 euros, within the limit of 4 recharges . It is then blocked. If you exceed the data envelope reserved for the European Union and the French overseas departments, you will be billed under SFR Voyage conditions. In the case where you have opted for the International option at 5 euros (i.e. 15 GB additional for EU / DOM), you will have to pay 0.005 euros per MB from Europe and the DOM in case of overflow and you will be billed under the conditions SFR Travel from Switzerland, Andorra, the USA and Canada. Recall that the modem use of this Internet envelope (sharing the 4G connection to a PC or a tablet for example) is authorized, just like peer to peer.

10. What about RED by SFR coverage?

According to the latest 4G Monitor score (connection tests carried out by subscribers of the various operators), SFR is credited with an average speed of 33.6 Mb / s in download and 10.3 Mb / s in upload. On the coverage, Arcep credits SFR with 99% coverage of the population in 4G (tied with Orange and Bouygues but ahead of Free at 96%) and 85% of the French territory, on the surface (ahead of Free at 80% but behind Bouygues and Orange at 84% and 88%).

11. Should we go?

SFR's RED offer already scored points on the fundamentals: solid 4G coverage, non-binding offer with a price valid for life (and not 12 months as often with the competition), unlimited voice / sms / mms and an envelope very comfortable data for mainland France. By adding more flexibility to its offer with the possibility of easily adjusting its data envelope in France or abroad according to your needs, RED seems once again to want to break the contract market without commitment.

This offer is still gaining in appeal, we appreciate the flexibility offered on an already solid package and particularly the fact that the modifications are applied or canceled instantly, at no additional cost and always without obligation. This week, the basic formula of RED by SFR is still as interesting. Displayed at 12 euros per month instead of 15 euros, it allows you to enjoy a beautiful envelope of 60 GB in 4G for metropolitan France. It is also very generous abroad with an additional 8 GB in 4G for Europe and the French overseas departments. These are therefore two separate envelopes offered by RED by SFR. Enough to cover the needs of datavores in France but also abroad.
