AMD Ryzen 4000 Vermeer MSI confirms Zen 3 for its X470 and B450 mainboards

AMD had to adapt spontaneously
The fact that this was not planned by AMD from the beginning made clear the introduction of the new middle class chipset B550. An official presentation slide from AMD promised that the B550, like the X570, should support the upcoming Zen-3 processors, which are again in Socket AM4, but do not run on any older motherboard of the 400 or even 300 chipset series.
AMD had to change the system spontaneously, not least because MSI has been promoting its AM4 mothe.rboards of the MAX series with X470 and B450 chipsets for a long time with compatibility to the upcoming Zen 3 desktop processors.
Zen 3 run on the B450 and X470 motherboards from MSI
The provisional waiver of the 400 chipset series was due to the fact that many of the AM4 motherboards would only have a BIOS with a 16 MB ROM, which would cause problems with capacity.
Most recently, AMD rowed back and announced that they wanted to solve this problem together with the manufacturers of the motherboards. However, the motherboard manufacturers should have the last word.
MSI announces broad front support
As MSI has now announced as part of its MSI Insider Show, the manufacturer AMD Ryzen 4000 Vermeer"and support the Zen 3 architecture on a wide front and, in addition to its MAX series, optionally equip the regular X470 and B450 motherboards with 16 MB large ROM with a corresponding BIOS update.
Users then have the option to switch to a Zen 3 compatible X470 or B450 motherboard, which however loses its compatibility to many of the older AM4 processors based on Zen, Zen+ and Zen 2. The memory space in the ROM of the BIOS is required for the Cpus of type Zen 3. The MAX series do not have this problem because they have a 32 MB ROM.
In addition to the confirmation of Zen 3 for X470 and B450 motherboards, MSI presented in its Insider Show the complete portfolio of B550 motherboards, including the MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk at the top. In a related discussion on Reddit, the topic was examined again in detail and MSI also spoke.
