Milestone-Telegram updated to v6.1 as it hits 400 million monthly active users.

We have seen a lot of messengers coming and going in the last few years. It is precisely the scepticism that many, many users have about the Facebook Messenger and especially Whatsapp that is driving people to constantly put out the feelers for an alternative.

Telegram was also able to benefit from this a few years ago and over the years - we have been at the start for seven years now - has been able to build up a faithful, ever-growing community that likes and regularly uses the service. It took three years to reach the magical limit of 100 million users, two years later it was already over 200 million users. We can now proudly announce that another 100 million users have been able to win within a year and thus have the milestone of 400 million users who use telegrams on a monthly basis.


Every day, at least 1.5 million new users arrive, so you can see that telegram is really running and that you have grown from niche messenger to a true Whatsapp competitor. Personally I can also see every few days that new acquaintances have been added in my list on telegram. The Messenger also benefits a little from the Corona crisis and the fact that teleworking and closed schools and universities ensure that we all communicate more through Messenger.

The service makers refer to functions such as folders, cloud storage and desktop support, which have ensured that Telegram is already ranked first in the downloaded social media applications in 20 countries. On the agenda high are group video calls and Telegram is working at full speed to establish this year in a form that promises both comfort and safety.

It will therefore take some time before that happens, but we will be able to expect further improvements in the interim. Some improvements have been announced today. For example, there is a new sticker directory where you can view all 20,000 stickers, the quiz function has been significantly upgraded and some visual updates are also available.
