Ubisoft attacks Apple and Google for a clone of Rainbow Six
In the world of video games, the inspirations are many and varied but it must be admitted that for many, it is the other games that inspire the studios. Each one then brings his personal touch, which makes the success or not of the title...
It is no secret that some video games are designed on the ideas of others. Ubisoft is now convinced that a game currently offered on the Apple and Google stores goes too far in copying. To far to sit around and do nothing. Thus, according to Bloomberg, the publisher made the decision to sue Apple and Google for leaving the game Area F2 in circulation.
Ubisoft attacks Apple and Google to remove Area F2 from stores
According to Ubisoft, this title is “almost a carbon copy” of Rainbox Six: Siege created to take advantage of Ubisoft’s success. This mobile game by the Ejoy, Alibaba, and Qookka Games, is a “virtually every aspect” of Ubisoft’s game, which offers players a team shooter. Right up to the interface itself. The drones, the walls you can blow up, the ones you can rappel down, it’s all there in this mobile game. Ubisoft claims to have alerted Apple and Google for this obvious infringement of intellectual property but both have so far refused to remove the game from their respective stores. Apple and Google did not wish to express themselves publicly on the subject.
A mobile game that looks too much like Rainbow Six: Siege
Ubisoft did not expand as to the reason that could explain the lawsuit against the two tech giants rather than the developer of Area F2 itself but it could be in the country in which the latter is located. Ejoy is located in China, a foreign country where intellectual property is very difficult to defend. A lawsuit that would force Apple and Google to remove Area F2 from their stores would cut revenues to the game’s creator. Or at least a large part in so far as the application is most certainly offered on other blinds. One thing is certain, if this action is a success, we must expect others of the same kind very quickly.
