QNAP TS 230 NAS Combines 4 Core SOC with 2 GB RAM
The TS 230 features a Realtek RTD1296 quad core 1.4 GHz processor |
At the bottom of the product line, QNAP offers the TS-230, a cost-effective NAS for home users. With a System-on-a-Chip from Realtek and soldered 2 GB DDR4 RAM, the simple 2-bay model can still encrypt data and provide sufficient performance for standard memory tasks.
Budget NAS for 2 HDDS
In the simply designed NAS for home users, QNAP uses the not entirely new RTD1296 from Realtek, which drives the four ARM cores with a clock frequency of up to 1.4 Ghz. Unlike the potentially stronger sister models of the TS-x31K series, the chip not only supports 1 GB directly ex works, but 2 GB DDR4 RAM, which is also soldered to the board in the budget-oriented tower NAS and cannot be upgraded.
QNAP TS-230 Features
Not in the usual white design, but in a "baby blue" shade that is unusual for the manufacturer, QNAP wants to use the TS-230 to appeal to private users who want to create a central data storage and a private cloud at home. The two drive bays provide tool-free mounting of the hard drives and can be locked to prevent removal of the drives. Data can also be protected via AES-256 encryption and snapshots. For an easy change of the Hdds in operation hot swap is offered.
Gigabit LAN and three times USB are common
In addition to a network port, the QNAP TS-230 comes with three USB ports, one on the front and the other two on the back. For cooling, a fan with a diameter of 80 mm is installed in the rear. The power supply is via an external power supply with a nominal power of 65 watts.
QNAP TS 230 |
As is common with QNAP storage solutions, the TS-230 also has various multimedia applications such as Photo Station, Video Station, and Music Station for download. These not only enable the storage and sorting of your own multimedia content on the NAS, but also provide it centrally for computers, tablets and smartphones in the network. Users can also start a Plex Media Server on the NAS.
Available at retail outlets from 197 euros
