Lenovo 2 in 1 Yoga Duet 7i and IdeaPad Duet 3i compete with Surface

Lenovo has introduced two new 2-in-1s that combine a Windows 10 tablet with a removable keyboard. In terms of size and equipment, Yoga Duet 7i and Ideapad Duet 3i compete with the Surface Pro 7 and recently presented Surface Go 2.The 2-in-1s rely on Intel Cpus, but do not have a start date yet.

The Yoga Duet 7i is a 13-inch Windows 10 tablet, with an IPS 2K touchscreen display



The Yoga Duet 7i is an 800-gram lightweight tablet with a 13-inch screen that transforms into a 1.16-kg 2-in-1 via the included keyboard. With Microsoft, the keyboard must always be purchased Active Pen is also included in the delivery of the 1,199 Euro basic model. New is the optional E-color Pen, which is equipped with a sensor, with which colors of any objects from real life can be recorded and used in common design applications. For selected variants with Core i7, the new pen should be included.

Lenovo relies on a 13-inch IPS touch panel with Dolby Vision certification, which has a 16:10 format with 2,160 1,350 pixels. It should cover 100 percent of the sRGB color space and achieve a brightness of 450 cd/m². A 5-megapixel camera with infrared sensor for Windows Hello is installed in the display frame, and a further 5-MP camera is located on the back.

Intel Comet Lake-U in three variants



In the smallest configuration, the Yoga Duet 7i offers a Core i3-10110U, 4 GB of RAM and a 128 GB SSD. The Core i5-10210U and Core i7-10510U, 8 GB and 16 GB RAM as well as Ssds with 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB are also available. Further variables for the equipment are an LTE module, which should receive selected markets, as well as Windows 10 Home or Pro. Lenovo does not want to announce until later when the Yoga Duet 7i will be available.

Slow USB, but fast Wi-Fi 6


For each model, however, the connections are set, which three times include USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type C (5 Gbit/s), an SD card reader and once 3.5 mm jack. When selecting the LTE module, the SD card slot includes the slot for the SIM card. Apart from the optional LTE module, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 are standard equipment.

Lenovo states runtimes with up to 10.8 hours in Mobilemark 2014 and up to 12.3 hours for 1080 offline video playback. The keyboard connected to the tablet via Bluetooth 5.0 should last 26 hours with continuous typing without backlighting.

Ideapad Duet 3i with 10.3-inch display



For the Ideapad Duet 3i there is so far neither price nor availability available, in view of the equipment the 2-in-1 should be positioned well below the Yoga Duet 7i. Lenovo will not disclose further details until later.

The 10.3-inch display with 1,920 1,200 pixels makes a comparison to the Surface Go 2. Lenovo again mentions 100 percent coverage of the sRGB color space, but the brightness drops to 330 cd/m². The Ideapad Duet 3i is also compatible with a stylus, but here it is for the passive digital pen, which is supposed to be included in certain markets, instead of Active Pen and without support of the new E-color Pen.

Fast USB, but slower Wi-Fi 5


The Pentium N5030 and Celeron N4020 are available as processors, the DDR4 memory measures 4 GB or 8 GB and the eMMC is up to 128 GB - there is no SSD option. The connectors have two USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbit/s) and one 3.5 mm jack. Wifi is installed according to Wi-Fi 5 standard, LTE can be ordered again optionally.

For the Ideapad Duet 3i, Lenovo states runtimes of up to 7 hours in Mobilemark 2014 and up to 9 hours for 1080p offline video playback.

The 2-in-1 will come in variants with Windows 10 S and Windows 10 Pro on the market. The S mode can be deactivated via the store for free, so that applications can also be installed outside the Microsoft Store.
