Inkscape - Microsoft Window Tutorial Online Reviews !

The free vector graphics program Inkscape has been under development for some 17 years. With version 1.0 the software has now reached the first final version. The functionality of the software can be compared with commercial software. The open-source project offers a wide range of editing possibilities and various works and add-ons.

Version 1.0 - This is new
With version 1.0, Inkscape switches to the new GTK+3 user interface, which in addition to improving performance, also brings a nicer scaling to high-resolution monitors. Mac OS users can now use Inkscape as a native application without Xquartz.

The toolbox or the tool-on-view has been redesigned with the update, allowing them to find the required functions more quickly. It should now be possible to work more flexibly with the vir-tu-el screen, for example, it can now be mirrored and rotated. In a detailed article the developers summarize these and all other innovations, including new Live Path effects (LPE) and an improved PDF export.

On the virtual drawing board

Various drawing tools are available for the creation of objects, including the pencil tool for free-handwriting simple paths, a filling tool and a calligraphy tool for calligraphic strokes. With the form tools for rectangles, El-lips, stars, polygons and spirals you can also create objects. Also on board are a text tool with various features, the integration of pixel graphics as well as clones, which function as linked copies of objects.

The created objects can be moved, scaled, rotated or tilted, which can be done both in-depth and by specifying precise numerical values. In addition, objects can be grouped and worked with layers. With RGB, HSL, CMYK and color wheel a wide selection is available for fillings and contours. There are also color gradients with several intermediate colors, pattern fillings and predefined patterns.

Even more functions

The path processing can be used to move, align and share nodes of different nodes. Text objects and forms as well as concatenations can also be converted into paths. Paths can be combined or broken down with dynamic and linked offset objects, and pixel graphics can be vectorized.

The render function allows complete edge smoothing, provides alpha transparency support for the display and PNG export as well as live rendering of objects during the modification. In addition, there is an XML editor and command line options for export and conversion. The software mainly relies on the standard-compliant editing and editing of  SVG files can also be exported to many other formats, such as PNG, Opendocument Drawing, DXF, sk1, PDF, EPS and Postscript.
