OnePlus 8 has 120 Hz 2K screen!

The orange phone OnePlus showed in Las Vegas was a concept. The OnePlus Concept One showcased an electrochromic glass that practically hides cameras when not needed, but provides a "half-phase" visibility, which, in fact, provides an ad hoc ND filter. There is still some debate over the utility of such a feature but, since it is just a concept, OnePlus is not in a hurry to mass produce it.

The screen technology announced by the company is almost the complete opposite for a small scope of media. It is less important, unexciting, and possibly ready for your next smartphone. In short, it is a 120 Hz screen with 2K resolution and boasting 240 Hz sampling rate, which is half-a-step above the 90 Hz 2K "Fluid AMOLED" screen, placing it in the OnePlus 7T Pro late last year Was.

To give it credit, some AMOLED screens in the market are capable of reaching that high refresh rate. A 120 Hz display on a razor phone uses an LCD panel for that reason. Whether it makes a significant difference in behavior can only be gauged when the final product is in the hands of the public. It does not come without cost, of course, be it in battery life or product price.

It is still a more practical and more accessible innovation than the Concept One's electrochromic glass and is more likely to be placed in real commercial phones soon. Naturally, that makes OnePlus 8 a prime candidate and seems to be starting leaks for the early 2020 major killer.
