According to various sources, a new "Silk" live action series is under development at Sony Pictures Television. Heroine Silk has similar powers to Spider-Man and is of Korean descent. The new "Silk" series will not be released on Disney+ and could compete with the upcoming Disney Marvel series.

  • "Silk" live action series under development at Sony
  • Phil Lord and Chris Miller act as executive producers
  • Home to the new Marvel series, Amazon Prime is traded
  • Heroine Silk has already appeared in "Spider-Man: Homecoming"

The rights to the character Spider-Man and the universe belonging to Spider-Man lie with Studio Sony and not with Marvel and the Disney Group. This has already made the Oscar-winning animated film "Spider-Man: A New Universe" and "Venom" with Tom Hardy possible in recent years. Also the two MCU titles "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Spider-Man: Far From Home" cannot be found on Disney+ due to this right situation.

And now Sony is further expanding its Spider-Man universe: With "Silk" there will be a live action Marvel series around superhero Silk. Lauren Moon (Netflix "Atypical") is in conversation as an author and presumed showrunner. And the "Spider-Man: A New Universe" makers Phil Lord and Chris Miller act as executive producers.

Amazon Prime could grab "Silk" series

According to the US industry magazine Variety, Amazon Prime Video is currently in negotiations about the project and the "Silk" series could thus find a home with the Disney+ competitor. However, this is not yet certain.

This is Heroine Silk

In the comics, superhero Silk is bitten by the same radioactive spider that gives Peter Parker his Spider-Man powers. It therefore also has very similar properties to the ability to climb up walls. One could almost say that they belong to the same species. There is also a strong attraction between Peter Parker and Cindy Moon and they begin a romantic relationship.

In "Spider-Man: Homecoming" from 2017, the character Cindy Moon was also already involved and was played by Tiffany Espensen. In "Spider-Man: Far From Home", Spidey’s 2nd MCU solo film, Cindy Moon was not to be discovered anymore. Fans speculate whether she has already become a hero of Silk. However, whether actress Tiffany Espensen will again impersonate the character in the new series is not yet known at the present time.
