Heritage Design: Porsche Targa combines classic and modern
With the 911 Targa 4 and 4S Heritage, however, the carmaker not only remembers his own legacy, but also rethinks what has been tried and tested. "Porsche manages to bring a classic to the present - with state-of-the-art technology in nostalgic design." With the Heritage Design models, we awaken memories of the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s among customers and fans. "No brand can transfer these elements as well as Porsche can," explains Oliver Blume, CEO of Porsche AG.
Porsche 911 Targa as Heritage |
The Porsche 911 Targa line was introduced in 1965 and soon became a classic among convertibles. The aim of the new edition: to bring the DNA of the Porsche Targa into the present - and to equip it with the latest technical specifications. This includes a 450 hp biturbo engine on the Targa 4S, which achieves 304 km/h in the lead and accelerates from zero to one hundred in 3.6 seconds. The regular Targa 4 takes 4.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 289 km/h.(Read also: Taycan vs 911 - The duel between E-porsche and cult combustion engines)

Porsche 911 Targa in the Heritage Design Edition: A real collector’s item
The new models are available in a total of five different liveries - including the classic Cherry Metallic. In combination with golden lettering and the traditional Porsche badge, the car certainly exudes memories of past decades of Porsche history. This also applies to the interior, which comes in two-tone leather trim. In keeping with the internal model series abbreviation, the number of units is limited to 992 units - the special model is to be available at dealers in autumn 2020. As a special extra, there is also a limited chronograph exclusively for buyers of the collector’s item. Nothing is yet known about the price, but it should be certain that it is more than 128,486 euros for the Targa 4 and 143,596 euros for the Targa 4S.
Following the Heritage Design Package for the 911 Speedster in 2019, the Targa is the second Porsche special model. Porsche will release a total of four of these exclusive sports car collector’s items at intervals and in limited quantities.(Also interesting: GQ test car highlights - from Porsche convertible to E-SUV)
