Naughty Dog’s artistic director, John Sweeney, looks back on the creation of this totally collector console: “When The Last of Us 2 was announced, we had no idea that the tattoo of Ellie would arouse such a rapid popularity among fans. In just one day, real tattoos appeared on social networks and, since then, not a week goes by without fans sending us photos of their new tattoos. When we were asked to create a PS4 Pro with the image of TLOU 2, our graphic designer, Angel Garcia, and I thought about several ideas, but we kept coming back to Ellie’s tattoo.
Sony is selling a limited edition PlayStation 4 Pro bundle in honor of The Last of Us Part II's upcoming release.
At that time, this tattoo had already become a symbol of the game and the community, like the Lucioles logo for the first installment. So that choice was made naturally. The question was whether it was possible to engrave it. It had never been done before, so we didn’t know if it was only possible, but thanks to the incredible efforts of the Playstation teams, our idea was able to materialize. This limited edition, very special to us, honors the passion of our wonderful fans and we would be proud to own it.”
