Aorus 15P, Gigabyte has launched another flat and lightweight gaming notebook in the 15-inch class, which is based on Intel Comet Lake-H and Nvidia RTX and is close to the sister model Aorus 15G. Two millimeters flatter, but without Thunderbolt 3, the options of the Aorus 15P are limited to two models.

A more mobile and affordable 15-inch notebook for players

For the potent gaming notebook with 15-inch display, Gigabyte makes use of the Aorus 15G as a basis in-house. However, the Aorus 15P does not appear in countless equipment variants, which differ in CPU, GPU, RAM, mass storage and the installed screen with 144 Hz, 240 Hz or even 300 Hz. The manufacturer limits the selection to two selectable configurations.

For this, buyers receive a 2 mm flatter notebook, primarily for playing, which combines potent and current components with high mobility due to a low weight of about 2 kilograms. Gigabyte officially states the dimensions of the Aorus 15P with 357 244 23 mm (B T H). Compared to the 356 250 25 mm (B T H) Aorus 15G, it is not only flatter, but also shrinks in depth. In terms of weight, both models should match Intel’s 10. Generation of Mobile Core Processors (Comet Lake-H) and Nvidia’s latest RTX graphics cards for notebooks at eye level.

Core i7-10750H is set with 144 Hz display

The most far-reaching distinguishing features between the new Aorus 15P and the Aorus 15G are the CPU, GPU and display in addition to the different dimensions of the aluminium chassis. The two innovations of the Aorus Pro series always combine the Intel Core i7-10750H (6C/12T) with a 15-inch and 144 Hz fast IPS display, which offers a full HD resolution (1,920 1,080 pixels).

Other options are not provided for the Aorus 15P. The Aorus 15G can optionally be equipped with the faster processors Core i7-10875H (test) or Core i9-10980HK as well as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q and a factory-calibrated 240 Hz screen.

Two configurations can be selected with RTX graphics

Even with the graphics card, only two options can be selected in the P branches: the mobile GeForce RTX 2060 (Aorus 15P KB) and the GeForce RTX 2070 in the Max Q design (Aorus 15P WB). The smallest Turing model without RTX from the entry-level class, the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, however, is not listed in the equipment list of Gigabyte. In two other points, the Aorus 15P and the Aorus 15G are equipped differently. The larger Aorus 15G offers Wi-Fi via a Killer Wi-Fi 6 module as well as a more robust and durable keyboard using a mechanical Omron switch. The smaller model features an established Wi-Fi module with Intel Wi-Fi 6 technology (AX200) and a classic island keyboard with RGB lighting.

Killer-LAN and -WLAN as well as Thunderbolt 3 missing

With working as well as mass storage, the Aorus notebooks are equated. Two slots in the form factors SO-DIMM and M.2 2280 can accommodate a maximum of 64 GB DDR4 RAM or 2 TB NVMe SSD. The exact equipment of the offered configurations has not yet given Gigabyte price. The manufacturer has also maintained a similar level of interfaces. Only one Thunderbolt-3 port is missing from both Aorus-15P models, which can transfer data via USB Type C with a maximum of 5 Gbit/s (USB 3.2 Gen1). With otherwise three times USB Type A (USB 3.2 Gen1), each time HDMI and mini DisplayPort, an SD card reader and LAN port, the usual connections are covered. The battery has a capacity of 94 watt hours and is intended to provide up to 8 hours of runtime in the Aorus 15P as well as in the Aorus 15G. Depending on the model, the energy store is charged with a 180 or 230 watt power supply.

From 1,599 euros can already be pre-ordered

The Gigabyte Aorus 15P can already be pre-ordered from a first dealer at prices from 1,599 euros. The built-in GeForce RTX 2060 is flanked by 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. For the upgrade to the GeForce RTX 2070 a surcharge of 200 Euro to 1.799 Euro is required. A comparable Aorus 15G with the equipment costs just as much with the mechanical keyboard, killer network components and Thunderbolt 3 currently. However, the increase in equipment is reflected in a weight gain of 200 grams.
