After the product name of the 360 Hz monitor from Asus was recently announced, the official specifications are now available in detail. Asus has launched a product page for the ROG Swift 360Hz PG259QN and Today US also has information on price and market launch.

With the highest refresh rate for gaming monitors of 360 Hz so far, professional players in the eSports sector are to be addressed in particular. With the announcement in January Asus had teamed up with Nvidia; the graphics card manufacturer contributes the appropriate G-Sync module and is naturally interested in high frame rates as a sales argument for their own high-end GPU.

Additional specifications for the Asus PG259QN

It was already known that the PG259QN has an IPS panel with a 24.5-inch diagonal and 1,920 1,080 pixels. The reaction time is given as 1 ms (GtG). The 360 Hz are only possible via the individual DisplayPort 1.4, via HDMI 2.0 still 240 Hz should be reached.

Further connections are the headphone output and two USB ports (USB 3.0 alias USB 3.2 Gen 1).Asus indicates the brightness with a maximum of 400 cd/m². There is no HDR certification, at least the monitor can handle HDR10 material. The stand allows all common ergonomic functions including height adjustment and pivot. Controllable RGB ambient light is available as usual on the back of the display.

ULMB instead of ELMB

Among other things, a large-area heat sink is used to cool the G-Sync module. The product pages do not yet reveal whether the cooling is passive or with a fan. As a further measure to reduce motion blur in games, Nvidia Ultra Low Motion Blur (ULMB) returns. This is just one of many brand names for backlight strobing that Asus itself actually carries under the name Extreme Low Motion Blur (ELMB). The mention of ULMB shows the close cooperation with Nvidia.

Price and availability

As Asus has announced at the request of the editors, the PG259QN is expected to be released towards the end of the third quarter (September) or the beginning of the fourth quarter (October). The date is not yet set in stone. With the price the manufacturer shows up however already concrete: 699 euro is the non-binding price recommendation.
