Qualcomm has officially unveiled its two new 6E modems with FastConnect denominations 6900 and 6700, which exploit the 1200MHz frequency for fast data transfer over 7 channels 160 MHz, as opposed to just 2 channels of the 5GHz frequency.

Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 can combine 2x2 6GHz + 2x2 5GHz (DBS - Dual Band simulated) mode to reach (at theoretical level) speeds of up to 3.6 Gbps, while FastConnect 6700 loses DBS mode and reaches up to 2.9 Gbps. The company promises a very small delay (less than 3ms), because at the frequency of 6GHz there are no interference.

Furthermore, the two new FastConnect modems support the Bluetooth 5.2 standard with the ability to use two Bluetooth antennas for significantly improved reliability and speed. On the audio track, the aptX Adaptive can theoretically reach 96 kHz for a quality equal to that of wired headphones, while the aptX Voice offers 32 kHz bandwidth, that is double the HD Voice (16 kHz).

Distribution of Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 and 6700 will begin later in the year, but we'll see them on smartphones by 2021.
