The success of the Boeing 777X first flight set a new record!



The Boeing 777X successfully completed its first test flight over the weekend, with the latter expected by the jet-maker but no less than a milestone. Boeing originally intended to deliver its inaugural flight to the 777X last week, but inclement weather conditions, including strong winds, forced the aircraft to stay on the ground.

Instead, it was not until Saturday morning, January 25, 2020, when the 777X lifted from Pine Field in Everett, Washington. After departing the runway at 10:09 am local time, flew for three hours and a total of 51 minutes before landing at Boeing Field in Seattle.

While the 777 and 787 are closely related to the Dreamliner, the 777X offers several special and unique features in Boeing's fleet. The most obvious is the new wing design, with folding wing-tips. This allows the 777X to effectively shorten the overall length of its carbon-fiber composite wings while on the ground

It also includes new engines, GE9X from GE Aviation. Combined with the new aerodynamics, the expectation is that the 777X will be 10 percent more efficient in its fuel usage than rival plans, as well as produce 10 percent less emissions. Of particular interest to airlines is Boeing's claim that the 777X should be 10 percent cheaper in its operating costs.

For the first test flight, it was Captain. Van Chaney, 777 / 777X Chief Pilot for Boeing Test and Evaluation, under control. Charged by Boeing's chief pilot Craig Bomben, the 777X was taken through a series of tests conducted to use various structures and systems in the aircraft. A remote team in Seattle tracked upcoming data in real-time.

This, of course, is only the beginning of in-air testing. Boeing will have four dedicated 777-9 plans for its flight tests, with this first example - the dubbed WH100 - scheduled to test the battery before it returns to the air.

Why Boeing 777X is important!




With poor publicity of late around the 737 MAX's safety, Boeing clearly needed some good news. The 777X is shaping up to deliver it, with 340 orders and commitments already on the books. The first 777X is expected to be delivered in 2021.

The first 777X will have two versions, the 777-8 and 777-9. The east will have 229 feet in length and seats for 384 passengers, with a range of 8,730 nautical miles. It will have long sibling, 777-9, length over 251 feet and seat up to 426. It has a sorter range, however, at 7,285 nautical miles

The two will share the same advanced cabin design, which Boeing is quick to point out and suits the modern needs of airlines and passengers. Comprehensive and more ventilated than previous models, it has larger overhead bins with easier closing doors. The windows are larger, and cabin humidity will also improve with less noise
